Beginner Groups

Starting each September, we are offering group beginner lessons for both adults and children in recorder, orchestral strings (violin, viola, cello, double bass), ukulele, guitar, flute, clarinet, bassoon and saxophone.
Adult and children are taught separately by professional freelance musicians.

I’m interested. Do I need to have studied music before?
No - we will start right from the very beginning.

What do I do about an instrument?
We can help you source an instrument.

How much does it cost?
The MMC registration fee is £80 for adults and £40 for under 18s per term, which typically lasts for 10 weeks.

Sounds good. How do I sign up?
Group beginner lessons are for new members only, or for children who have attended just musicianship classes before. Contact info@maccmusiccentre.org.uk for more details and to express your interest. Once term registrations are open you can sign up directly on the registration form.

Not sure which instrument to play? Have a look at our Instrument Introduction Videos!

Please note:
Lessons will only run if there are sufficient numbers (minimum 3 adults or 4 children). We will confirm at before each term whether a group will run. If there are just a couple of people interested we could run the group in the next term, subject to further interest.

Orchestral strings will learn all together in one group.

If you would rather learn as an individual we can put you in touch with one of our tutors. Individual lessons are a private arrangement between the learner and the tutor and are not included in the MMC registration. You do not need to be an MMC member to access individual tuition.
